Imagine spending a full day lounging by the pool, cocktail in hand, incredible food, soaking in the pool and nothing but just good vibes! Sounds like pure paradise, right? Well, I recently tried the day package at Ocean Creek, and spoiler alert: it did not disappoint. It was worth every single moment.
Let me give you a glimpse of that resort first.
Located in the northern part of Mauritius Island, in Balaclava, Ocean Creek is a relatively new four-star hotel that opened its doors in 2023.The resort is owned and managed by Shanti Hospitality Group. Before that, it used to be a film studio.
Fast forward to how the day went. Our day package officially started at 9.00 AM, but since we arrived a bit early, we were seated in the massive open-space lobby filled with houseplants.
We were given all instruction regarding the day package by the staff before proceeding to breakfast.
It was an open buffet style breakfast consisting of tea / coffee or juice with an assortment of pastries—all enjoyed with a stunning view of the river joining Le Goulet beach.
While waiting for Tam Tam bar to open, we decided to challenge ourselves with the 7-meter-tall wall-climbing activity. A huge shoutout to Aaron, who initiated us into the sport and taught us how to climb. Reaching the top gave me such a great sense of achievement.
After that, we headed straight for the waterslide. One word to describe it: adrenaline! We also tried out the main pool and the jacuzzi. To top it all off, they have a fantastic pool bar. We also had the DJ who set the mood and played good music, and having our drinks made and served while we were right there in the pool was amazing (even if on that day it was a bit chilly, we managed to stay in the pool just for the vibe lol). I mostly stuck to non-alcoholic drinks, like a refreshing Bardoza.It was absolute bliss.
At 12:00 PM, while most people stayed behind for the aqua gym session, we made our way to the open buffet at Le Jardin restaurant. Honestly, the food was the ultimate highlight of the day. They offered a massive selection, including a large choice of meats, seafood, pasta, rice, pizzas, an assortment of breads, pickles, veggies, and salads, plus plenty of desserts. I ended up filling my plate with steamed rice + rice with corn, crab, legumes, pickles, and achard, alongside a fresh tuna salad and some extra veggies. For dessert, I treated myself to ice cream with chocolate sauce.
After lunch, we rested by the pool and then, there was an unexpected event: a dart game with interesting gifts. My partner ended up bagging a voucher of 10% for a stay at the same hotel. This was simply pure joy for him.
Finally, to wrap up that amazing day retreat, we finished off with a virgin pina colada before leaving the resort grounds. Completely relaxed and happy, we left with only one wish: to return again soon.
